Is it difficult to reach Torre di Ponzano?
No, it is not difficult to reach us, it is actually very easy.
Although being in the country side, surrounded by field and olive groves and vineyards, we are easily reachable since located only 4 km away from the exit POGGIBONSI NORD of the main connection between Florence and Siena, the so called SUPERSTRADA, which is a 4 lanes drive without toll.
The SUPERSTRADA is very near but located on the other side of the hill, consequently it cannot be heard and it is not visible but so convenient to have nearby since allows you to reach Florence, Siena and San Gimignano in less than half an hour.
You will be in the middle of the Chianti country side, with marvelous views without having to go for miles in dusty roads.
Is there a dusty road to reach Torre di Ponzano?
The house is not directly on the main road, there is a very short (600 mt!) dusty road, easily accessible even by less experienced drivers.
Are there Restaurants nearby?
Plenty! We are in Tuscany, there are Restaurants everywhere, even in the middle of nowhere!
The nearest Restaurant, La Sosta di Pio VII is only 1 km away! In Barberino Val d'Elsa, the nearest village (less than 5 minutes away by car) there are another 4 Restaurants, 2 Pizzerias and many others Restaurants all around.
Is it cheaper to book directly?
It normally is, but who knows! Call us you might save some money!
Can I reserve for one night only?
There are periods (National holidays, special events in the area or during high season) when we apply a minimum stay and it is not possible to reserve a room for only one night.
The minimum stay is also, and more often, applied to family accommodations like Villa Il Fienile or the apartment La Torre.
Please
note that restrictions like a minimum stay or the fact that it is not
allowed to do the check-out during certain days, it is also due to the
internal administration of the work in order to be able to clean
the establishment properly, and give a good service to our guests.
What is the most expensive period to come to Tuscany?
July, August and September
What is the cheapest period to come to Tuscany?
Weather has changed and lately you can find nice weather in November and December.
Also March and April are normally cheaper months to visit Tuscany, although they might be colder than October and November. You should obviously avoid holiday like Easter or the 25th of April, which is a National holiday in Italy, when the request for rooms might increase during these days pushing the prices up.
If your aim is to visit art towns like Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Montepulciano and the Chianti region, enjoying the good food and the good wine, low season is not so crowded and surely cheaper.
You could find good offers during other periods too, prices varies in relations to so many factors ... National holidays with long week-end, events like wine festival or fashion shows in Florence might influence the prices due to a higher request of rooms.
Furthermore prices can be higher during the weekend, higher if you book only one night and cheaper for longer periods and the city tax in town can be much more expensive than in the country side.
Last, but not least, the type of accommodation you choose since in Torre di Ponzano we have different type of accommodations, from a standard double room of 15 mq to a semidetached villa of 220 mq.
Why should I reserve a room at Torre di Ponzano?
- Because we are so centrally located that you will be able to stay in the Chianti country side without going for miles on a dusty road and you will be only 30 minutes away by car from Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano. There are many other destinations you can reach from Ponzano in one hour, places like Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza, Bagni Vignoni, Lucca, Pisa ...
- Because we personally give you the key of the accommodation instead of leaving the key inside a box and we are available, if you need us, to plan you holidays with suggestions and info about the territory which
we know very well having being in the tourism business for almost 40
years. Because we are available during the morning for information on
Wine tasting, courses,
Directions, places to visit, Restaurants and we are living in Torre di
Ponzano keeping an eye on our guests safety.
- Because Torre di Ponzano is an authentic place and not sugarcoated like many touristic places.
- Because if you would like to visit art towns like Florence, that could be, at times, overwhelming it is nice in the evening to come back to the silence of the country side.
- Because the view is wow!
- Because the pool has enough sun beds for our guests and you do not have to reserve them in order to use them during any part of the day since enough sun beds will be reserved for your own use.
- Because we do not water our garden:)! The grass is yellow in July-August and we try to live in a sustainable way.
- Because the A/C is working well, it is not noisy and we do not allow to keep the windows open while using it :)!
- I wanted to write: Because we are the best! But I fear that that would be rather presumptuous ... but you know ... we like to think we are:):):)! ☺️😄
Well, no, we are not the best, we are actually getting older, we have shut the professional business and we carry on working as private (with a regular authorization to rent privately) but we carry on because we love people and we love our guests who, over the years, have been the best guests ever 99,9% of the time and this is a good point to come and book in Torre di Ponzano!
Why is it not possible to use the pool on departure day?
During the summer many guests would like to spend the day of departure in our pool since the next accommodation they have reserved it will only be ready in the late afternoon. This will not be possible for several reasons and the first one and most important is that guests not being registered in Ponzano, (and after the check-out they are not officially registered in Torre di Ponzano), are not covered by insurance, and this reason is so important, that it should be enough to understand that to take this risk is not worthwhile, regardless and, frankly, unjustified negative comment that we sometimes get for not allowing this practice. This is also the reason why we do not allow to invite friends/relatives to use the pool.
Furthermore, there is no public bathroom that can be used during the day since every guest has his own bathroom inside the accommodation.
Nevertheless, it is possible to rent a room for a daily use in case there are accommodations available for that day.
Why is it not allowed to take glasses or food to the pool?
Glasses can break and be a danger for guests walking barefoot around the pool.
In the country side food attract animals of all type. You can take plastic or paper glasses in the pool, as for the food, we have a large garden not far from the pool, with a marvelous view, umbrellas, tables and chairs where you can sit and have your snacks.
